The unique personal style of the looks below are based on the More is More philosophy of dress. Completely contrary to that famous quote...of COCO CHANEL "Once you've dressed, and before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take at least one thing off." The key to this look is ...mix up the patterns, add some texture, aim for the unexpected, be bold. It's all in the wrist action...pop of neon with a big faced watch.

Gone are the days when a manicure meant just a clear coat, or non color, such as Ballet. Of course Nude + the Classic French Manicure always look right. But now there are so many more compelling options. Experiment...go a little bit MAD.
For two magical days talented, creative, LA based designers were part of Erica Tanov's Holiday Pop-Up Shop at Larkspur Landing. A refreshing bevy of beautiful ladies passionate about their craft were there with their wares. The group included 2 jewelry designers, a knitter, 2 potters + a charming candle maker. I was smitten by all. From the charming J. Crew Campaign, to the polka dots running wild on the urban streets, to home design + tabletop polka dots are everywhere. They are a style that I always love on others but try as I might I never like on me. Usually what I can't do in a big way...I can do with an accessory. These Kate Spade polka dot pumps have just enough spots for my taste. Some might say this Polka Dot obsessed lover is taking it too far. Than again as Mae West once said "sometimes too much is just about right." Polka Dot allure...in small but fun doses
What hangs best from tanned, toned arms, well a designer bag in neutral of course. From tanned, toned legs...neutral heels of course.... There is nothing more chic than neutral accessories? At least I don't think so. Some of my favorites of the season...
How lucky am I to have Sarah, Style Sleuth Extraordinaire + dear friend give me a tour of all her favorite haunts in the East Bay + SF. Her discerning list included Erica Tanov, The Gardener, The Voyager, MAC, Tail of the Yak and if there was time pop into the De Young to view the Gaultier Exhibit. Next MAC, short for Modern Appealing Clothing, one of Sarah's favorite. And for very good reason. When we arrive she is greeted like the Rock Star she is, by MAC owners, brother + sister, Ben + Chris Ostipal. Many quarters, energy + an insatiable love of design + discovery is needed for a day sleuthing with Sarah. Sadly we did not make the Gaultier Exhibit...another time.
Californians love their cars. Cars designate style, social class, how big or small one's pocketbook is. Me I'm a New Yorker, cars have never really rocked my world. In Manhattan the accessories one wear's designates ones style. BUT I stopped dead in my tracks when I came across this beauty in St. Helena, CA. I was overcome by the beauty of the design....in a second I forgot about the tomatoes and all the other things on my shopping list. So blown away by the simple, elegance of this car. And the name NEW YORKER. A beauty of a car that even this New Yorker could love. Every detail was perfection. Chrome ashtrays beautifully placed on the back of the metallic leather seats. A design treasure from 1964 sitting in a 2011 parking lot. Completely by surprise I fell madly, deeply in car love..... Check out these headlights....have you ever seen a such a pair!!
