There are some women that are so chic, so cool and so loving inside and out that not only do I crush on their style but they rise in my eyes to stature of Role Model. Someone I want to be very much like...If Only...and Mimi is one of them. Her hair, super long blonde with no doubt grey mixed in, red lips, sunglasses, big smile a complete ethereal mix. The amazing wine her and her husband Bret Lopez of Scarecrow make seems to have the magic of OZ, the spirit of Dorothy and the Good Witch all in one. And they live down my Yellow Brick Road. Tips on how to get Her Look are below... but her spirit...is not so easily had....Time is needed to cultivate one's inner BoHo Goddess. Tips... become a traveler, seek adventure...embrace the beauty that is all around. Be humble mix the authentic with the heavenly....Let Your Love Flow.

I have a mad, unabashed STYLE CRUSH on Emmanuelle Alt, Fashion Director of French Vogue. She is the epitome of Uber Cool, Effortless Chic....Once again she rules the street of Paris Fall 2013.
I love EVERYTHING about Taylor Tomasi Hill's style. Her mix of High + Low...army jacket with Chanel Bag Quilted is perfection. Her red hair, redder lips and dark almost black short nails add just enough chic without looking too done. A huge fan of street photographers....most of these are by Tommy Ton.
How lucky am I to have Sarah, Style Sleuth Extraordinaire + dear friend give me a tour of all her favorite haunts in the East Bay + SF. Her discerning list included Erica Tanov, The Gardener, The Voyager, MAC, Tail of the Yak and if there was time pop into the De Young to view the Gaultier Exhibit. Next MAC, short for Modern Appealing Clothing, one of Sarah's favorite. And for very good reason. When we arrive she is greeted like the Rock Star she is, by MAC owners, brother + sister, Ben + Chris Ostipal. Many quarters, energy + an insatiable love of design + discovery is needed for a day sleuthing with Sarah. Sadly we did not make the Gaultier Exhibit...another time.
The first time I met the charming Serena Armstrong was in Napa Valley the week after the BFF Bag Launch Party. She immediately ordered a Hudson Bay Messenger. I immediately liked her + thought yes a kindred Haute Bohemian soul. Serena, a mother of two, a lover of home design, fashion, fabrics came to her present metier late. But it seems to be her destiny. After moving to Marin + renovating a home or two she started a home design blog to document the renovation. http://www.farmhouseurban.com/ Next came a few satisfied customers which morphed into Serena Armstrong Interiors. And finally her delightful atelier/shop on Magnolia Street in Marin. Where she both sees private clients + 3 days a week has the store open for retail shoppers. The store is a not too overwhelming a mix high/low. Items such as chairs below + chaise lounge are given a facelift of elegance + usefulness. Modern fabrics + treatments of materials breathe new life into what had become stodgy pieces. Serena has a terrific eye + focused point of view. I would love to have her come to my home + spin her magic. Nothing seems too forced, just lovely + fresh. You can see some of her work in this month's issue of RUE Magazine. And what is a visit on a Sunday morning to a home store sale without scrumptious enticements? Serena with her good taste had pastries + coffee from the
The SweetLife Bakery in San Anselmo on hand. Visiting the Farmhouse Urban Home Store, chatting with Serena Armstrong + savoring an almond croissant is truly THE SWEETLIFE. From the moment I met Beth Buccini, than Beth Sheppard my young intern at Mirabella circa 1990's, I was smitten. Beth's style mantra...playful, more is more, daring + darling about sums it up. Only matched by her delightful Southern charm. Below on the cobble stone streets of Soho just steps away from the fashion mecca Kirna Zabete that she founded with her dear friend + college roommate Sarah Easley. Another Southern Belle. Fuzzy, furry + fantastic... Glamorous + playful as she attends the NY Fashion Shows. fyi...she's pregnant.
Gloria is one of my many style crushes. She is the Fashion Director of Teen Vogue so I am guessing that many girls are style crushing on her. Gloria is a wonderful mix of Italian passion and adventure. Colorful in personality as well as dress. Her special talent is in the mix. Color blocking in neon..... This look is less about color + more about delightful proportions with a dash of eccentric thrown in (over sized fur hat, royal blue socks with lace-up chunky heels. There is a very European, old world look to the color + the pattern. Italian style in a not over done way. Many American women would benefit from the casual yet delightful way Gloria puts it all together. A true original. Casual + youthful outfit for a day on the go. She skips the sloppy sweats or tight blue jeans. In fact she rarely ever wears jeans but opts for a delightful mix of plaid, floral and cool but comfortable sneakers. With notebook in hand she is no doubt running around to many fashion appointments. Love the athletic zip black + white jacket topping off the look. Gloria...you've got style for days!
After seeing the not very memorable but fairly funny film Crazy Stupid Love i was smitten. Crazy, stupid in love with the open toed clogs Julieanne Moore had on. I was obsessed. Mind you they were not just ANY clogs. They were a modern, open toed, super cool version with a 3" heel. The hunt began...Were they at Zappos? No, Were they at Dansko? No. Could they be gotten from the uber happening Net-a-Porter? |
